“Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world.”
Nelson Mandela

In 2007 a group of parents and IES joined forces to start a bursary programme at Hout Bay International School. IES has made the commitment to cover the school fees of one bursary student in each year group and chelo is committed to providing financial and emotional support to each of those students and their families.

chelo ensures that the students have all the correct uniform, supplies their stationery, makes sure they can attend extra-murals, as well as putting in place any additional educational support that they may need in order to achieve success at school.

In order to raise these funds the chelo committee organises an annual event which is the highlight of the HBIS social calendar and is always enjoyed by those who attend!

‘chelo Royale’ will take place on Friday, 2 June and once there you will have the opportunity to dabble in a bit of gambling, as well as bidding for some wonderful works of art that have been lovingly created by the students in the Primary School.

We look forward to seeing you at ‘chelo Royale’ where we come together in aid of our HBIS bursary children – please click here for tickets!

Kind regards,

Gill Baxter
